Welcome to the Heptarchy

In the Heptarchy, world peace is the status quo. All nations have been unified under one central government that assures its citizens that scientists have unravelled the mysteries of time and have calculated a prophecy: if ever a force emerges to challenge the world’s stability, three brave individuals will restore peace. With such a mathematically derived promise, what could anyone possible have to worry about?
So when the talented young warrior Malcolm Tarcain embarks on a promising career alongside his best friend Averil Dale, an anxiously brilliant physicist, he thinks he knows where his life is headed. It isn’t long, however, before the pair realizes all is not as blissful in the government as it might seem. Caught up in the machinations of friend and foe alike, they are soon embroiled in an political resistance movement that challenges everything Malcolm thought he knew. Matters come to a head when Averil’s lab makes a terrifying discovery that could threaten the very existence of humanity: the death of time itself. In the aftermath, Averil and Malcolm are faced with the question: what do you do when the world you were promised is falling apart around you? How do you make those in power listen to your pleas for justice and sanity? And at what point is it morally justifiably to resort to violence?
In a sweeping story of scientific discovery, shifting loyalties, and political subterfuge, When Time Dies examines the intersection between science and politics in a coming-of-age story shaped by our own experiences as two young adults emerging into a world teetering precipitously close to structural collapse.

For this book, we invented an entire discipline of science revolving around the workings of time. On this page, explore the main chronological models, the anatomy of the chronological particle, the history of these scientific discoveries, and the broader sociopolitical developments these revolutions ushered in.
